Blog Reflection: Art Criticism Article
I reviewed "Nature of the World", "Art Exhibit: Food" and "The Queen City". I chose the "Nature of the World" exhibit because of the interesting sub theme that was exposed in addition to the nature them. I like looking at my peer's work to see how their minds work but I did not like the fact that I had to openly criticize certain aspects that I probably didn't like about the exhibit. I wouldn't mind reading the critique on my exhibit to see what I need to improve on. I would rate my article an 8 out of 10 because the flaw I brought up in the article could destroy the flow of the exhibit if altered. Working on this project was a learning experience and I enjoyed it.

I chose each of the inspirational pieces to show that there are multiple ways of showing a self portrait through art. All three of them had great detail on the face and showed emotion in the pieces of artwork. These pieces came from the Brooklyn ArtProject. I used the PaperArtist application on my phone to create the self portrait. This form of media made it easy to create portrait and I didn’t run into any difficulty. The piece represents me and shows my facial features as well. Value was used with the contrast between the color of my face and the color of my hair. It was also was used to create shades of white on the shirt. I enjoyed doing the piece of art because the application made create the paint texture by moving my hand across the screen and the photo will change. I believe the final artwork is nice and the form of media used to make it was enjoyable.
EXTRA CREDIT BLOG
1. I enjoyed working on the art exhibition project a lot because I thought that project was the easiest once you were capable of figuring out a theme. The ArtSTOR application was also helpful due to the information page that was needed for the PowerPoint slides.
2. I enjoyed working the least on the mask assignment because I just felt that the image I had in mind was never able to be realized into reality. In addition it felt slightly childish just making a mask most of the day.
3. I like using angel, I understand angel more now after taking an online course than I thought I ever would. It is much easier to use than I thought. I really liked how organized everything was, and I knew when everything was due. I could also get ahead certain times if I wanted to or had time to.
4.I would keep the extra credit opportunities, such as this one. I wouldn't add anymore extra credits because the students who don't do their work shouldn't get the opportunity to get their points back for skipping an assignment. I think you offer the right amount of extra credit for students who didn't do so well on an assignment and can get their points back for that reason. I would also keep, where you offer students to turn in work late with permission. Some professors refuse to offer that regardless the situation and I think that is wrong because students go through hard times and sometimes they have trouble completing all the work.
5. Yes I would definitely recommend this course to my peers, if you have the time and can keep on track with turning things in on time, I would say its definitely worth it.

Reflections of AED 200
1. My expectations for this course were to learn some things that I have not yet learned about art such as the history and background of art. These expectations were definitely met. I have learned about how cultures have different art. I was also exposed to themes and styles that I never knew were involved in the arts.
2. After being through this course, I still would have my definition of art; to take your feelings and put them onto paper. In addition art would be a way to record events in history without simply just writing them down.
3. In my original posting I chose Andy Worhol because I knew his famous quote . After this course, I would still say the same person because I realized that he is famous for more than just a quote such as the artwork where he used the Campbell noodle soup cans together.
4.This was my fourth online course, I will say it is a lot of work but I enjoyed it as long as I didn't have to create an artwork myself. I enjoyed being able to work around my schedule and completing things when it best suited me. I am glad I took this course and succeeded at it. I think it made me more organized and made me pay more attention to when things were due and I had to plan accordingly.

Module 15: Video Review
1. In the video "The Colonial Encounter: View of Non-Western Art and Culture" I learned that 1900s Paris worlds fair was the largest world fair with over ran for 8 months with over 50 million visitors that exposed the underlying nationalism of the event, half the area was devoted to French imperialism while the rest represented other nations' colonies, three figures from the fair represent three kings of the 19th century and they remain on exhibit today. In the video "Jackson Pollock: Michael Fried and T.J. Clark in Conversation" I learned that both regard Jackson Pollock as a major modern master, this conversation took place in National gallery of art in Washington, this film is the two men T.J Clark and Michael Fried giving their own thought objective description, analysis and interpretation on Pollocks work and Clarks emphasis is on the historical role of modern art while Fried is focused on the independence of its aesthetic.
2. The film "The Colonial Encounter: View of Non-Western Art and Culture," relates to our project, because the worlds fair is an exhibit of art pieces from across the world. The film "Jackson Pollock: Michael Fried and T.J. Clark in Conversation," relates to our project, because the men are giving an art criticism of the Pollocks work just as we did for each piece in our exhibition.
3. The film "The Colonial Encounter: View of Non-Western Art and Culture," goes in depth and talks about the important piece of the worlds fair. I found this video interesting because I have never even heard of the worlds fair before watching this. The film "Jackson Pollock: Michael Fried and T.J. Clark in Conversation," goes into depth on Pollocks piece, and talks about every detail. Helping you clearly understand how to arrive at an objective description, analysis, and interpretation of a work of art.

Project #4 - Art Curation Exhibit
I enjoyed the project because I am good with PowerPoint, making slideshows, and because I enjoy doing it. It surprised me that it took up a lot of time to complete the project because it didn't seem difficult just required good research. I personally didnt believe but it was difficult like the mask project because we didn't have to make any artwork ourselves. It didn't take me too long to come up with a theme because the sacred realm always interested me. Selecting which photos to use was a process due to the ArtStor database tended to show some artworks that were straying away from the keyword. Thankfully the ArtStor database had a great information page that gave me all necessary information needed for the slides. Overall I am glad to finally complete the project, and I am looking forward to what themes my peers decide to choose as well.

Module 13 & 14: Video Review
1. The first video I learned about what low brow art is based off of many different things from tattooing to porn, and how it’s more of a culture than anything else and that it was formed to spite the snobby art culture. The second video I learned that in the Tate museum and how art is set up there. It also explained how art should be set up by movements and the past to the present. I found the third video really interesting because I knew nothing about the laws regarding archaeology or any Native American burial grounds and how upset that this must of made Native Americans feel. In the 4th video I found it interesting that it has to go through a series of people to then be placed in the gallery.
2. The first video did noy relates to my project because the theme I chose was the sacred realm and the video was about surrealism. The second video just made me keep in mind that I should maybe see how during different time periods how view changes within the population. The third video might relate to my project in looking at history around the works I chose and how it might of made people feel or be attached to cultures. I think this helps with my project in the sense that what will people think of the works will it actually fit, and I can also choose pieces I like or think tie in with my project.
3. I really liked all the films; I felt that they gave me a better understanding about different types of art and how they were formed. I felt it helped me learn more about how art galleries are set up and why.
